Matthew 9:
10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples.
11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.
13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

PRAYING TO GOD AS GAP FINDERS AND NOT FAULT FINDERS
-
Father God, deliver our lost loved ones from what leads to intoxication . In Your Word You call the good, good; the bad You also call bad. The world calls the good, bad; and the bad, good. Have mercy on our lost loved ones and on us that love them.
-
We know one thing leads to another. The one in skid row began with drinking for the first time. You show us from Your Word how wrong this is because You love us and don’t want for us to go that way.
-
WARNING TO GOD’S PEOPLE
-
Noah, got drunk and immorality and family trouble followed, and the same with Lot.
-
You commanded the priests not to drink so that they could tell the difference between what was holy and the unholy.
-
Priests and prophets stagger and reel from beer and wine, err in vision, and stumble in judgment.
-
You reprove princes for drinking. Israelites are eager to follow false teachers who prophesy plenty of intoxicating drinks.
-
Christians are to be alert and self-controlled, belonging to the day. Drunkards belong to the night and darkness. The past life of drunkenness and carousing has no place in the Christian’s life.
-
An overseer is to be disciplined. Elders are to be temperate, sober, and not near any wine. Deacons are to be worthy of respect and not drinkers. Deacons’ wives are to be temperate and sober
-
The older men and older women of the church are to be temperate and not addicted to wine.
-
A drinking servant is unprepared for Jesus the Lord’s return. We do not want to do anything that will hurt our testimony as a believer. And if a Christian brother is a drinker, You don’t want association with him as he is drinking.
-
THE DRUNKARD
-
HOSANNA, merciful Savior, we call upon the name of Jesus for help for our lost loved ones that are engaged in this destructive habit of intoxicating drink.
-
O LORD, rescue the souls of our lost loved ones.
-
A drunkard son is stubborn and rebellious.
-
Your wisdom says that intoxicating wine is like the poison of serpents, the cruel venom of asps. Alcoholic drink is like a serpent, and stings like an adder.
-
Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging.
-
We pray that our lost loved ones will be among the wise, and not among the drinkers of alcoholic beverages that lead to drunkenness and causes poverty, woe, sorrow, fighting, babbling, wounds without cause, and red eyes, drunken men that stagger in their vomit. Drinkers’ tables are covered with vomit and filth.
-
Alcoholic drinks also cause the drinker to have strange and adulterous thoughts and to have wrong desires and not be reformed, making the drinker unstable. It makes the drinker insensitive to pain so that he does not see the warnings. Alcohol perverts good judgment. Intoxicating wine takes away intelligence. A man is betrayed by wine. Drinking leads to shame.
-
OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST WARNED AGAINST DRUNKENNESS
-
Alcohol is habit forming and addictive. The future of those that choose to drink looks hopeless to them. Drinkers seek their own gain and expect tomorrow to be just like today. We pray that our lost loved ones flee the temptations of intoxicating drinks, and not even look at them as Your Word says in Proverbs 23:31.
-
You also warn us with accounts in the Bible of those that died or were killed after drunken sprees. In proverbs 4:17, alcoholic drink is called the wine of violence.
-
Intoxicating drink still does not satisfy. Those that pride themselves that they can hold it will only find woes. Proud drunkards shall be trodden down. Drinking wine was combined with praising false gods.
-
GOD’S JUDGEMENT TO THE DRUNKARD
-
The worst thing, is that drunkards cannot escape the consequences when You judge. Drunkards will not inherit Your kingdom. You pronounced woe on the drunkards of Epharaim. The enemy is judged for selling girls for wine. Israel is condemned for forcing Nazarites to drink wine. The drunkards of Nineveh will be destroyed by You. You said, “Woe to him that gives his neighbor drink.” Drunkards awake to see Your judgment.
-
ABSTAIN FROM INTOXICATING DRINK
-
Daniel refused the king’s intoxicating wine and was blessed for it along with his abstaining friends. LORD, we agree not walk in drunkenness or immorality. In contrast to being drunk with wine, we will be filled with the Spirit.
-
PRAYING FOR OUR LOST LOVED ONES THAT DRINK
-
We have hope in Your name. Save them Father, we intercede for them under our great high priest, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who is praying for us, Your house of prayer. You are our lost loved ones only hope to deliver them and heal them and save them. Those that have erred in spirit shall come to understanding, they will come to their own border, they will all be taught by You, and great shall be their peace. "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool." In Jesus name we pray, amen.
