HOW TO PREACH, 1 Corinthians 2

HOW NOT TO PREACH
-
Thank You LORD that we do not depend on human eloquence or human wisdom to present Your testimony. Even the well-educated apostle Paul was resolved to know nothing except Jesus Christ and him crucified. He said he came to the church with weakness and great fear and trembling. The preaching of Your message is not with wise and persuasive words.
-
The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from You, but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.
-
LORD, we do not want to trust the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. None of the rulers in Jesus day understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
-
HOW TO PREACH
-
The preaching of Your message is with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that those that believe will not rest on human wisdom, but on Your power.
-
This is what we should speak in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.
-
GOD’S WISDOM REVEALED BY THE SPIRIT
-
As it is written:
-
“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”
the things God has prepared for those who love him
-
For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them?
With Your Spirit within us, we can makes judgments about all things, but we are not subject to merely human judgments, for:
-
“Who has known the mind of the Lord
so as to instruct him?”
But we have the mind of Christ.
-
Thank You LORD that You have not given us the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from You, so that we may understand what You have freely given us.
-
LORD we pray Your Spirit our Teacher will cause us to understand Your message of wisdom which You say is for the mature. The Spirit searches all things, even Your deep things. Reveal Your things to us by Your Spirit, for no one knows Your thoughts, except Your Spirit.
-
Your wisdom is a mystery that has been hidden. You destined Your wisdom for our glory before time began.
-
“Who has known the mind of the Lord
so as to instruct him?”
But we have the mind of Christ.
-
PRAYER FOR OUR LOST LOVED ONES
-

We pray Your Spirit leads our lost loved ones to hear the message of Jesus Christ and him crucified. Father God we pray they hear this message with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power and that they believe and rest on Your power. Give them Your Spirit so that they come to accept the things that come from You. LORD, give them understanding and discernment through the Spirit.
-
We ask in Jesus Name, amen.
-
(From 1 Corinthians 2)
