HOW TO BUILD, 1 Corinthians 3

WORLDLY CHRISTIANS
-
Father we pray help for our brothers and sisters that are still worldly, infants in Christ. They are given the milk of the Word because they cannot eat solid spiritual food because they're still not ready for it.
-
BEING WORLDLY
-
LORD, in Your eyes, jealousy and quarreling is being worldly. When we segregate and identify ourselves by the name of our church building, group, or leader we are acting as mere humans and are not in Your will and power.
-
THE JOB OF THE CHURCH
-
All Your people and pastors are only Your servants, through whom we came to believe, as You assigned to each his task. One planted the seed, another watered it, but You are the one that is making it grow. Your Word says neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only You, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor, for we are co-workers in Your service; we are Your field and Your building. All things are ours. And we are of Christ, and Christ is of God.
-
BUILDING WITH CARE
-
It is by Your grace given to Your servants that one laid the foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. You want each to build with care, for no one can lay any other foundation than Jesus Christ (1 Cor 3:11). Our work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light and will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person's work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss, but yet will be saved--even though only as one escaping through the flames. LORD, give us wisdom to analyze what we are using to build on this foundation, if it is gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw.
-
WISE BY GOD'S STANDARDS
-
Father, deliver us from the deception of the devil. We can not be wise by the standards of this age, for the wisdom of this world is foolishness in Your sight. We should become "fools" so that we may become wise. As it is written:
-
"He catches the wise in their craftiness"
-
and again, "The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile."
-
PRAYING FOR OUR LOST LOVED ONES
-
Father God, as Christians, we do not want to be a stumbling block and keep others from coming to Christ because of our ungodly behavior. As it is, Father, Christians are accused of every thing without a cause, let alone for a cause. We know and are thankful that You forgave us of the sins of our past and the sins we repented of, but the devil is the accuser of the brethren.
-
LORD, we pray Your grace for those You assign to our lost loved ones. Give them Your wisdom, and may they receive and use it. We pray they will believe in You through their testimony of You. The Lord Jesus is praying for them and for our lost loved ones that are hearing and believing the gospel. We pray for the one who plants the seed and for the one that waters it. May each be careful to lay the true foundation which is Jesus Christ, and there is no other. May the purpose of the laborers be the same, that our lost loved ones believe in You through Your Son and be saved. Protect and nurture the seed, and make it grow healthy, we pray, Father God, that it will produce the fruit of Your Spirit.
-
Father, may we not forget to obey the words of Your Son, the Lord Jesus:
-
"By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another" John 13:35
-
In Jesus name we pray, amen.
-
(From 1 Corinthians 3)
