PREACHING THAT SAVES, 1 Corinthians 1

GOD CALLED HIS CHURCH
-
Thank You LORD, that by Your will You called Your church and sanctified us in Christ Jesus. You called us to be Your holy people, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ--their Lord and ours.
-
THANKING GOD FOR GIVING US GRACE IN CHRIST JESUS
-
We always thank You because of the grace given us in Christ Jesus,
for in Him:
-
we have been enriched in every way
--with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge.
You have confirmed our testimony about Christ among us. Therefore, we do not lack any spiritual gift as we eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed.
-
BLESSED ASSURANCE
-
You will also keep us firm to the end, so that we will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. You are faithful, who have called us into fellowship with Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
-
PRAYING FOR CHURCH ABOUT DIVISIONS
-
LORD, we pray for Your body of believers in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all the church agree with one another IN WHAT YOU SAY and that there be no divisions among Your people, but that the church be perfectly united in mind and thought.
-
We pray there be no quarrels over the leadership of Your church. Paul the apostle was not crucified for the church, so we cannot say we follow Paul, nor Peter. Following Christ should not mean Christ is divided.
-
POWER IN THE PREACHING OF THE CROSS
-
Christ sent His church to preach the gospel. There is power in the preaching of the cross of Christ, therefore, preachers should not depend on the wisdom of this world and eloquence.
-
Father God, the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is Your power.
-
For it is written:
-
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”
-
PRAYING FOR OUR LOST LOVED ONES THAT THEY HEAR AND BELIEVE THE MESSAGE THAT SAVES

-
Father God, may our lost loved ones hear the message of the cross with Your power. Protect them from following pseudo “Christianity,“ from those who act like they are wise, from deceptive teachers of the law, and from vain philosophers.
-
The world has not known You through its wisdom. Jews demand signs, and the preaching of the cross is a stumbling block to them, and Greeks look for wisdom. But it pleased You through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.
-
May our lost loved ones hear the preaching of Christ crucified, because the preaching of Christ crucified is not human wisdom or strength, but the preaching of Christ crucified is full of power, Your power and Your wisdom.
-
THE CALLED
-
LORD, we thank You whom You called. Not many of us were wise by human standards, not many were influential, not many were of noble birth. But You chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, You chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. You chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things--and the things that are not--to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before You. Christ has become for us wisdom from You--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.
-
Therefore, as it is written:
-
“Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
-
PRAYING FOR BLESSING
-
We pray grace and peace to us from You, God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
-
(From 1 Corinthians 1)
